Confession - publication day is probably the closest I get to that feeling you had on Christmas morning when you’re lying in bed, waiting, waiting, waiting until you can legitimately call it morning, throw back the covers, shove your feet into slippers and race downstairs to check out what awaits you!
Okay, so I know that Santa has not come down the chimney (it’s June after all - let’s get real) but somehow, it’s that same feeling. The idea that something small has shifted in the universe, somehow, the world is a different place.
Some writers compare it to something like giving birth - I’m not so sure I’d go that far. I don’t think, for me at least, that anything will ever compare to the experience of seeing my children for the first time and yet…
In many ways, I’m letting go of a thing that I’ve nursed and minded and thought about and had all to myself for a full year. The Women at Ocean’s End have been with me for my working days, sometimes when I close my eyes at night and if I’m lucky, when I open them first thing in the morning. (I say lucky, because, it’s often when I’ll be struck by some way of moving things forward for one of them.)
And, today’s that day.
Constance, Heather and Ros have finally left the building.
It’s emotional, in a good way.
I’ve done all I can do for them at this stage.
Now, I’ll enjoy watching them make their way in the world.
Yes, there are events.
I will visit bookshops.
Share random news on social media.
But, essentially, they are no longer under my wing.
I can do no more for them.
So, now, it’s up to you.
If you pick up a copy - I hope you enjoy spending time with them as much as I have.
I hope you fall in love with each of them and that the story uplifts you (I also hope it makes you cry, but not too much!)
And, of course, I hope that if you enjoy it, you’ll recommend it to someone you think might enjoy it too.
Books are always for sharing, and with this book, I hope it will provide a refuge, a place to escape the world for a few hours, somewhere altogether quieter, saner and kinder - so you are warmed not just by the occaional sunshine on Pin Hill Island, but also by the sense of friendship, generousity and love that permeate the story.
Oh, and yes, of course, if you enjoy it, do let me know - it’s always lovely to hear from you!
are giving away a copy of the book to three lucky readers. You can check it out HEREEnter here #easypeasy by 14 June 2025. It’s UK only!
So, that’s it from me, for now - I’m off for breakfast - something nice…
I’m out and about over the next few weeks, I’ll be popping up in bookshops, come say Hi, if you’re knocking around. Also, some of the organised events here…
Thanks so much Roz - a day of pancakes and book chat xx
Congratulations, Faith!
